Founded in 1970 by Charles R. Johnson and Robert L. Dulaney, Johnson-Dulaney Builders was originally located in Savannah, Georgia. Charles R. Johnson served as president from 1970 until the spring of 2001 when he handed the presidential baton to Robert N. Tanner.

In its 32 years on Hilton Head Island, and after the construction of more than 500 homes, Johnson-Dulaney Builders has become a leader in the construction of custom-designed homes. Johnson-Dulaney Builders has been the recipient of prestigious building awards including Builder of the Year, Builder of the Month, and numerous Lighthouse Awards for excellence in building.

As a native of Bulloch County, Georgia and a resident of Hilton Head since 1979, Bob Tanner has been with Johnson-Dulaney since 1978. Having started with project supervision, he now serves as president. Bob's thorough knowledge of the building process and his dedication to his clients have earned him a solid reputation in Hilton Head. Bob is active in the Hilton Head Island Home Builders Association having served two terms as president and is currently the National Director of the Association. Bob, his wife Diane, and their daughter Jennifer reside in Moss Creek Plantation.
